We formed our band, Music Factory, the day after our first amateur performance in 2017, inspired and guided by our mentor, Aartee Aunty. Our core team of four, including myself, shared a deep passion for music and enjoyed jamming together. Shortly thereafter, we offered music therapy at a children’s cancer hospital in Noida, which proved to be a turning point for me, my drumming, and our band.
This experience profoundly impacted me. I witnessed the incredible resilience of children facing severe illness and undergoing painful chemotherapy sessions. Their determination, strength, and ability to find joy in small moments despite their suffering was inspiring. They taught me the value of embracing life with courage and maintaining an unwavering belief in brighter days ahead.
And this was my turning point – when I learnt to truly appreciate life and inspired me to use my music to make a difference.
Over the past seven years, I have actively participated in and led various social initiatives and causes that impact youth, women, underprivileged children, disadvantaged communities, and the environment. One of our most significant partnerships over the past two years has been with Sheroes, a group of acid attack survivors who exemplify extraordinary resilience and an unyielding will to live. Despite facing a harsh and judgmental world, they confront each day with remarkable courage, refusing to be defined by their scars. At Music Factory, we support their pursuit of independence by helping them establish cafes, attracting patrons, teaching them to play music, and enhancing their digital literacy. We also work with them to develop other skills, striving to create a more inclusive world alongside them.
I credit my journey with Music Factory with shaping me into the person I am today. Our journey began with a shared love for music, but it quickly evolved into something much more profound. Performing for various social causes opened my eyes to the impact we could make through our music. Each experience taught me valuable lessons about empathy, resilience, and the power of community. Engaging in social initiatives have instilled in me a sense of responsibility to contribute positively to society. They have taught me the importance of compassion, the strength of the human spirit, and the joy that comes from giving back.
Through our band’s work, I have grown not only as a musician but as an individual. I have learned to appreciate the small moments, value human connections, and understand the significance of making a difference, no matter how small. The journey with my band has been a continuous source of inspiration, pushing me to strive for personal growth and to use my talents for the greater good.
